Our choice of books for bedtime tonight was the Question and Answer Encyclopedia of the United States. It has little tidbits of information about the states and people in them, and one of them we read is as follows:

"Which Seattle-born businessman is mega-rich? Bill Gates of the Microsoft Corporation. He made his first billion at the age of 31 after inventing the MS-DOS system and then Windows. Today he is one of the richest men in the world."

As soon as I read that, Jake asked with amazement, "He's still alive?"

I replied, "Oh, yeah. He's about your Uncle Sam's age."

Then Jake asked, "And he invented the window?"


So close, yet so far away......
