The other day, the boys and I were doing a little bit of thrift store hunting and we came across some Bonanza dvds. I let them get one, and they watched it when we got home. Today, they were telling me what happened in the shows, and what the two episodes were called. Levi said, “One was called The China Grunt, or something.” Jake started laughing and said, “No, Levi! It was the Spanish Grant!” Even Levi had to laugh at that one. He’s always been the child whose words never really cooperated with him, and he often has a hard time getting out what he wants to say. However, though he’s been the less language-oriented, he’s doing very well in Latin. He remembers the phrases pretty well, and loves to have miniature conversations with me. (We’ve only learned a few phrases in his book.) Luke, on the other hand, is having great difficulty remembering ANY of the Latin phrases. I think he’s a little young, even for the kiddie level. He still says ‘you’re es-post (his little Spanish version of ‘supposed’) to turn out the light’ and ‘I can drawl a munster.’ Some things are just too cute to correct yet!
As for rednecks… Craig heard a couple of gunshots from the house behind us while he was eating his late dinner. Just a few minutes later, the neighbor on the other side called to say he had heard the shots and wondered what was going on. He apparently thought it was Craig. When Craig hung up, he said, “You know you’re a redneck when your neighbor hears gunshots and calls to see if you need help skinnin’ somethin’ out!”
